The ‘26-’27 PTO needs you
The PTO will continue to be busy over the summer - our fiscal year is July-June- and we are still looking for adults to help us fill these roles and more (full list is here):
Co-presidents: We are searching for 2 people to come on as the Talley PTO co-presidents for the next school year. One person would take on a 1 year term and the other would take on a 2-year term. Our current co-president will stay on in a board position to help you learn the ropes. This is a great position for someone with people management skills who is great at delegating. Your role would include liaising with school admins, the superintendent through her PTO council, and with other PTOs/PTAs in the district. Experience with nonprofits is not required but would be helpful.
Treasurer: This position is a 2-year term. The treasurer works closely with the executive board to create and maintain an annual budget (set over the summer), keep record of all transactions in a system of accounting, make payments, and deposit funds. The treasurer attends all meetings to give a financial report of the organization. He/she/they also work closely with spiritwear and events committees to prepare the PTO iPad points-of-sale.
Communications team lead: This voting position on our board comes to our monthly meetings, knows what’s going on, and can help organize our communications team made up of an eblast volunteer, a social media volunteer, a website volunteer, and a graphics volunteer. No social media or website experience necessary (though a plus!), just a desire to help us spread the word and some skill in organizing a calendar.
Sponsorship Co-chairs: We need 1-2 people to help us over the summer to find sponsors for the school year and then manage getting them exposure and signage throughout the school year. We have loyal returning sponsors and a guide to help you do this. This is great for someone who is friendly and good with emails.
Passive Fundraising Chair: We are looking for 1 person to keep track of current passive fundraising, manage our school supply boxes (February-August) and keep an eye out for new ideas!
Yearbook committee member: Our Yearbook chair is looking for a rising 3rd-grade parent to shadow and learn the ropes.
Garden Committee: Do you love gardening? Do you also love helping kids learn about plants? Then this is the spot for you! Garden hours are Tuesdays around lunchtime, so availability at that time is needed.
Funding Committee member: This committee needs 1-2 more people to help us decide how, when, and where to spend our funds!
Want to volunteer but not year-round? We’ve got spots for you too. We usually crowd source among the PTO leadership to run our events throughout the year, but we would gladly welcome new people and energy to any of these (not an exhaustive list):
Popsicle Social (PTO event)
PTO Member Donation Drive and Teacher Fund Pool (2 Aug/Sept PTO fund drives)
Meet-and-Greet and curriculum nights (PTO table at school events)
Sorting Day (in conjunction with House staff leadership)
Reading Rally (Fall PTO fundraiser)
Thanksgiving Luncheon (supporting the school nutrition event)
Tigerfest (PTO Spring Fundraiser and event)
Staff Appreciation Week (PTO led in May)
5th Grade Big Bash (with school staff)
5th grade Moving forth ceremonies (supporting school)
